Tasty Tuesday ;)
Dinner tonight - was very impressed with myself.
Rice, Mixed Greens Salad with Citron Dressing, Sanchu (Korean BBQ & Lettus Wrap), Tofu with Cojujan and Soysauce.
I sorta got hooked on Sanchu whilst in Japan and since it’s super duper easy to make I’m gonna share with y’all how to!
FOR THE MEAT
Thinly cut ‘sizzle’ steak - 500g
Any kind of lettus (I chose Cos Lettus cause it was on special at Woolies)
Cojujan for Seasoning (Korean chilli miso paste - available at Asian food stores and some super markets)
FOR THE MARINADE
Soy Sauce - 150ml
Sugar - 4 Tablespoons
Sesame Seeds - 1 Tablespoon
Sesame Oil - Bit under 1 Teaspoon
Cojujan - Bit under 1 Teaspoon
Garlic (grated) - 1 Clove
Ginger (grated) - Same amount as garlic
Pepper & Chilli Powder - To taste
1. Wash & cut up the lettus. Pre-make the Marinade –
all you need to do is combine & mix the ingredients well.
2. Marinade the meat and let it sit for 30 minutes to an hour+.
3. Heat up the pan and cook the meat for 2-3 minutes on each side (pour the marinade in with it).
4. If you have any marinade left (untouched by raw meat) pour it over the cooked meat when you dish it up.
How to eat:
Paste on a bit of Cojujan on the lettus leaf, pop the slice of meat on (cut to smaller size if too big) and add on whatever else you like (e.g. shredded carrots, coriander, spring onion etc) and bon a petit ;)
